C2E2 contributes to Renewables Global Status Report 2015

June 25, 2015

For the first time, the recently released Renewables Global Status Report (GSR) by REN21 includes a chapter on Energy Efficiency and its potential synergies with renewable energy. Prepared by the Copenhagen Centre on Energy Efficiency, the chapter ‘Energy Efficiency: Renewable Energy Twin Pillar’ provides a concise overview of energy efficiency status across sectors: buildings and appliances, transport and industry.

The chapter discusses important policy advancements, which took place between 2013 and 2014. The key message is that renewable energy deployment should be accompanied by energy efficiency actions. Although these two areas are still often separated in policy agendas, several examples, which are exploiting synergies between the two, are given in the report.

The annual Renewables Global Status Report (GSR) prepared by the international network of more than 500 contributors and coordinated by Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21) provides an overview of the recent trends in renewable energy market, industry, investments and policy developments around the globe.
