When Green Meets Green

The National Bank of Belgium (‘NBB’) finds green firms borrow at signicantly lower spreads in the syndicated loan market when the lender consortium also be classified as green. The NBB reviewed the performance of an international sample of loans over the 2011-2019 horizon. Green credits showed favorable performance particularly in the context of evolving environmental policy.
