Isabella Gaetani

Isabella Gaetani is a Senior Scientist working within the Arup Smart Buildings Team in the London office. Prior to joining the Smart Buildings Team, Isabella developed research programs for Arup within the Team Foresight, Research and Innovation. She has 6 years’ experience in Energy, Sustainability and Simulation, with a PhD in Building Performance Simulation (Building Physics and Services unit, Eindhoven University of Technology) and a Master’s in Energy Engineering. Isabella’s research focuses on unlocking the power of data to increase our understanding of occupant behaviour and ultimately achieve better energy and comfort performance of buildings. During her PhD, she developed a strategy that enables simulation users to improve the modelling of OB-related uncertainties in building performance simulations, thus leading to improvements in the final energy performance and overall indoor environment of buildings. Her research has been widely published in scientific journals and presented at conferences worldwide. She is a reviewer for several journals, conferences and national funds, as well as a member of IEA EBC Annex 79, focusing on Occupant-Centric Building Design and Operation.
