Mike Steinhoff leads ICLEI-USA’s standards and software development as Director for Tools and Technical Innovation, shaping city-scale emissions accounting and climate action planning practices for over seven years at ICLEI. Mike lead multiple technical advisory committees in the development of the US Community Protocol, participated in the development of the Global Protocol for Community Emissions Inventories (GPC) as a Steering Committee Member, continues to serve as a Steering and Technical Advisory Committee Member for the STAR Community Index, and as a member of the EPA Sustainable and Healthy Communities Program Board of Scientific Counselors. Mike translates first-hand knowledge of protocols to the development of software tools to support those processes and extend the capabilities of practitioners in local government, most notably through the ClearPath suite of tools. Mike holds dual Masters in Environmental Science and Public Affairs from Indiana University, a BS in Plant and Soil Science from the University of Tennessee and is among the first cohort of individuals to earn the World Bank City Climate Planner Certification.
